Caesarean section & Scar Management

Caesarean section

A caesarean section is a surgical procedure that involves cutting the front of the lower abdomen to open up the uterus and deliver a baby.

Physiotherapy is important because following the surgery the core muscles become weak and will need strengthened. Not only is Physiotherapy important for strengthening but also for advice, education, and treatment for scar management.

Exercises and professional care after such a surgery will help improve lower back pain, help strengthen your core, and help with scar aesthetics and subcutaneous adhesions (under the scar).

Our Physiotherapy Program

Following a C- Section we would recommend that each of our clients come in for a post-natal check.

Our therapist is trained to treat scars of all shapes and sizes – not only C-section scars.  We can use manual therapy, silicon patches and Lymphatouch to treat scars.

We will provide advice and education for you to carry out to aid with lymphatic drainage, breakdown of scar restrictions and release tight tissue.
